Acid

acid

Recorded February-May 2012

The 12th Warhorse album is thus titled because it was made entirely using loops from the Sony Acid music library. It’s sort of like the musical equivalent of using clip art to design a fancy poster. You can be very creative in how you combine all the elements, but it is I confess a bit of a cheat since these are pre-fabricated mini-samples of music. But it was loads of fun to do.

1. Galaxy Express
First creation with Sony Acid, done for a class assignment.

2. Night Drive
I liked using Sony Acid so during less interesting lessons I spent time creating additional songs.

3. Funkamentalism
I was going for a full throttle piece here.

4. Dreamwave
I wanted to create something a bit more gentle. The music flows and changes like a stream of consciousness.

5. Steam
The final piece I created during my classes. Another stream of consciousness but more funky.

6. Nomad
I bought the software and continued to create music at home. I was given a the option of a free additional music package and opted for one called Continental Drift and created this fusion of diverse cultural music.

7. Passport
I nickname this around the world in eight minutes. I present the different parts of Continental Drift in a medley fashion.

8. Fiesta
A world music party mixing Continental Drift and other elements.

9. Stop
I dug through the free samples and created this gritty cop-show styled piece.

10. Somebody Help Me
Bits I didn’t use in Stop became the starting point of this high octane rocker.

11. Dirty Money
A pretty cool techno piece.

12. At the Edge of History
Went more in a cool jazz direction with this.

13. AguaFresca
A fun mix of funk, jazz, and disco.

14. Feel
I like the piano, drum, vocal combo heard here so much I later reworked it into another song that appears on Year of the Dragon.

15. Stomp
This piece shifts from a heavy refrain and stomping acoustic solos.

The video playlist includes a couple “bonus” songs not on the album: Electric Shock and Space Trippin’. These were two videos that I had to make music for as a class assignment.
